FAQ
Frequently asked questions
-
How exactly does it work?
It’s very simple: once you’ve booked your spot and paid the studio fee, just turn up at the agreed time and date. Choose a piece of pottery from our cabinet (from bags to vases), grab a brush and pick your colours. We’ll give you a brief explanation of the techniques, and then you can let your creativity run wild. When you’re finished, leave your piece with us. We’ll glaze and fire your item in our professional kiln so that it shines and is waterproof. -
Are drinks included?
The studio fee covers your space and all the materials, but drinks and snacks are charged separately. We have a bar where you can order the most delicious coffees, matcha lattes or refreshing drinks on the spot. Feeling peckish after all that creating? There’s always cake or biscuits to enjoy whilst you paint. -
Can I have my ceramics posted?
We always recommend that you come and collect your masterpiece in person, so you can be sure it arrives at your home in one piece. If that really isn’t possible, we can arrange for it to be posted (at your own risk), but trust us: an extra visit to our club is much more enjoyable. -
How long can I stay here?
Each session lasts 2 hours as standard. That’s the ideal amount of time to get into your ‘flow’, enjoy a quiet cup of coffee and finish your piece without feeling rushed. You can paint as much pottery as you like during this session. -
When and how can I collect my work?
The firing process in our kiln takes a bit of time and patience. Your creation will be ready in about four weeks. We’ll send you an email as soon as your ceramics are ready for collection. Just pop in during opening hours -
How long will my ceramics be kept?
We’ll happily keep your work for up to 8 weeks after the baking date. After that, we’ll need to make room on our shelves for new creations. So please don’t forget to collect it, as it would be a shame to waste all that hard work! -
Can I just pop round?
To be sure of a spot at the table, we recommend booking online. That way, you can be sure there’ll be a brush and a chair waiting for you. Is there a last-minute spot available? Then you’re more than welcome to pop in for a quick top-up. -
Cancellation
Cancellations can be made up to one week in advance. Studio fees are non-refundable for cancellations made within 7 days, but you can reschedule your session for another time. -
Damage
Ceramics remain a handcrafted product, and working with a 1000-degree kiln always involves a small degree of risk. Should anything go wrong during the firing process, you will be given the opportunity to come and paint a new piece. We will only consider claims for damage if the damage is immediately visible when you collect your work. Unfortunately, we cannot compensate for damage that occurs after use or over time. -
Caring for and maintaining your ceramics
Once fired, your ceramics are food-safe and ready to use. Although they are technically dishwasher-safe, we always recommend hand-washing hand-painted pieces. This will ensure your unique creation stays looking its best for years to come. -
Are children welcome?
Absolutely! Pot & Paint Club is open to all ages. For children aged 5 or 6 and above, it’s a wonderful experience to create something tangible with their own hands. We do ask that very young children are accompanied by an adult, to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time. -
Can I come with a group?
That’s certainly possible. For groups of 8 or more, please email anne@potandpaintclub.com
